The Girl Scouts in Troop 876 selected New Life Children's Center, a shelter in Canyon Lake for severely abused and neglected 10-18 year old girls, mostly from Central Texas, for their community service project to earn the Bronze Award. The Center needed to restock items for its points store, and the girls collected and donated these items. "We wanted to reach out to girls in Central Texas with our project," said one of the Girl Scouts. "Here in Lakeway, we are very lucky to have so much, and we wanted to share with girls who want a new start in their lives." The girls spent more than 15 hours working on their community service project and two badges to qualify for the Bronze Award.
